Safe Fruits and Veggies

In planning my shopping this week, I am thinking about what treat alternatives I want to buy for Piper and Murray that will be lower calorie and healthier than their normal bones and scraps.  For easy access, here is a short compiled list of what I found to be safe for them.  Hope it's helpful to someone out there!

Safe Veggies- Best steamed to increase nutritional value and ease digestion.  If choosing canned, choose organic with no salt.

carrots
green beans
cucumber
zucchini
broccoli
cabbage
kale
celery
parsley
squash
asparagus
spinach
a cooked plain potato

Safe Fruits- Don't feed seeds, stems or leaves.  If using canned or frozen, choose items with no sugar added.

apple pieces
oranges
watermelon
small amounts of banana
**Please research or ask your vet about any other fruits or vegetables you are thinking of feeding your dog before doing so.  There are many that are NOT SAFE and could cause a lot of harm.**

Yum!
