It's Squirrel Season!

In our neck of the woods (northeast USA), the fall season is upon us and we just adore the cooler weather.  We get doggie run play dates, far fewer clippings and baths, and car rides (because it's not hot enough to cook us anymore!)...yay!  Also with fall comes loads and loads of our favorite... scurrying squirrels!!!  I don't know about all of your dogs out there, but mine absolutely LOVE LOVE this time of year.  Piper and Murray are on a constant hunt for their furry little friends.  I am not sure they would actually ever want to catch one (and if they did, they might be more scared of it than it would be of them), but they can't get enough of chasing them full speed through our backyard, down sidewalks (with a human at the other end of the leash...ugh), in fields when running...ANYWHERE!  It is the most hilarious this time of year when I open the back door to let them out, and without knowing if any squirrel visitors are even out there, they tear out to opposite ends of the yard as if on patrol and after a criminal on the run.  There generally are a couple squirrels hanging around gathering for winter, and then the barking and jumping up on tree trunks and flying through the air begins.  One afternoon I thought Murray was going to scale the stone wall along the back of our yard he was in such hot pursuit.  Ah the joys found in the small things in life.  Well, I will sign off with a HAPPY SQUIRREL SEASON to you all :)  Stay safe patrol pups!

I know this is just a toy squirrel...
but I caught him too hehe :)

  3. We think we'd love to chase squirrels...actually we KNOW we'd like to chase squirrels because we like to chase everything! It's now getting to our warm bit, so we can't go in the car if it has to be parked. But we go for very early walks and very late walks.

  5. We are finally getting temps much more to our liking. We can almost feel the snow on its way - or at least we can dream:) We don't see a lot of squirrels here, guess our trees are still too little, but we sure do enjoy chasing bunnies.

Have a great weekend. Mom really misses the beauty of autumn in New England.

  11. Enjoy the weather, we're loving it too! That's usually the only way I can get the dogs out when it's raining, I ask if they see the chipmunk. LOL
