Dog Custody

I don't follow much of any news on Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but I stumbled across their dog custody battle on the internet. Assuming they separate for good, each of them are laying claim to their rescue dog Bear, that they adopted together. It made me think of my own dogs (and cats) and I started to wonder what would happen if I were in a similar situation as them. Honestly, this topic has rarely entered my mind. I plan to be married to Jamie for long haul, and luckily he is very tolerant of my dog obsession, so we fit together well. I think he is borderline obsessed himself! Anyway, maybe I am deluded, but I really don't think Jamie would be the kind of guy to take my dogs from me, no matter what the situation was. Sure, he would like some visitation time, but I think he would let me have custody of any animals I wanted. From my point of view I know I couldn't have Murray live with anyone but me. He and I are very much attached at the hip. Piper is a toss up. He is not overly bonded to either one of us. Maybe there are some people out there that should consider what THEY would do. Not a pleasant thought, but since a lot of us look at our dogs like children...it may be worth considering.

Happy Together :)

  1. When we brought Finn home, we had to sign off that my hUsband and I were both owners, in case this very thing happened. I don't want
To think about separating from the hubby or Finn!

  2. To much to think about, thank goodness Mom & Dad have been together for 40 years, so hopefully it never happens here, couldn't stand to be without either one or each other.

  3. What would you do if you fell in love with someone, and then they said,
"no, no dogs, I just don't like them". Dump him? Try to get him to change his mind? What?

  4. hey Murray,

So furry nice to meet you! And you are my namesake! When I was adopted by my human, K, the humane society had named me "Murray." But K thought I looked like a "Suka" so that became my new name. Not sure what my name was before "Murray." Anywoofs, great name!

Thank you for sniffing your way to my blog and pawing such a kind message. I appreciate it.

K is single (sad) so she does not worry about me or my Pack mates being taken away. How sad for Bear to lose one of hise owners. May the best vampire win! And I hope Bear ends up in the best possible situation.

  6. Pretty sure if my significant other tried to take my dog(s) away from me I would string him up in the forest, cover him in honey and let a bear nibble on his toes. :)

  9. I wouldn't give my dogs up for love or money and considering all the work I put into them, I don't think a judge would give them to my hubby. He just found out that since we've been married over 10 years that I would get half his SS, so he says no divorce. Guess I'm stuck with him. :-)

  13. Unfortunately Mom says that there are some humans who just want to be mean when there is a separation and really don't want or care about the dogs at all. Too bad for Bear. We are pretty sure our humans are together forever - they have 41 years going so far:)

Thanks for stopping by our blog too.

  14. I could be with someone who did not like dogs. I find myself getting annoyed with Jamie when he doesn't see eye to eye with me on minor dog issues, so a non-dog person would never work with me.
